We've all done it. We go to the store looking for a particular style of shoe and we happen upon the perfect specimen, but alas, it happens to be a half-size smaller than our actual shoe size. So we squeeze it on, walk around a bit, and ignore the obvious pinching and impending pain, thinking that we'll just stretch it out by wearing it around the house. While this may work if the shoe is made of quite soft leather, or suede, it usually just means we buy the shoe and it sits sadly in our closets, taunting us for years, while we debate throwing it out.
If this has happened to you, you know how maddening it is. But where here to let you in on a little shoe-stretching secret! Where there is a freezer, there is a way! That's right, our trick involves sticking your shoes in the freezer overnight?!
Here's the play-by-play:
Step one: Double up a pair of Ziplock bags, one pair for each shoe.
Step two: Fill them up with water, a little under half way.
Step three: Shove said water-filled bags all the way into your shoes, filling in the toe area.
Step four: Put shoes in the freezer, let them freeze overnight.
Step five: Take shoes out of freezer, let thaw for 20 minutes or so, try on, repeat if necessary!
